TRAINER PERKS ○ LIGHTNING FINGERS [ UNIQUE ] Jacob's skill with a guitar is exceptionally impressive for a man as young as he is, able to move between notes and chords with both speed and accuracy. His near-prodigal skill is what makes him such a popular musician. ○ SHARE THE PAIN [ BATTLING ] Still obsessed with the idea that he will never get to see Meloetta again, Jacob has grown to exhibit sadistic tendencies when battling other Trainers to better express his lingering regrets. Moves that inflict negative status conditions are twice as likely to succeed against enemy Pokémon. | LIKES - music - performing in concerts - performing in Contests - drinking - doing drugs - partying DISLIKES - the police - goody two-shoes - his medical condition - tone deafness - hecklers - bad publicity | PERSONALITY - boisterous - disrespectful - hedonistic - aggressive - temperamental - violent - flippant - cynical - emotionally distant - inconsiderate - sadistic - cunning - regretful - lonely |

[PTab=BIOGRAPHY]
history
Ever since he was a young boy, Jacob Slater had a passion for music and showmanship.
No matter where he went or what he did, this strapping young man was always seen listening to something that suited the task at hand, whether he played video games, did his homework, spent time with his Pokémon, and even while he slept.
Some say that this is tied to the very peculiar fact that Jacob suffers from Stendhal syndrome: an extremely rare and equally bizarre psychosomatic disorder that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, and even intense hallucinations when he is exposed to an experience of great personal significance, which is usually triggered when viewing art.
It should also be noted that Jacob was one of a rare handful of individuals lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Melody Pokémon, Meloetta, whose beautiful singing voice and perfect sense of bodily rhythm caused him to experience rapturous hallucinations to the point where he fell unconscious, Meloetta's unparalleled beauty etched in his memory forever.
Because of this medically perplexing condition, Jacob was forced to take antidepressants from an early age to cope with the grim possibility of never seeing Meloetta perform again. This realization inspired him to pursue music as a career, yet the frustration he felt toward himself for having been so personally affected by the experience that it negatively affected his health reflected in the style of music he pursued: sludge metal.
Jacob would begin acting out in classes, playing pranks on other children, and even going as far as to commit various acts of hostility whenever his temper had all it could take. Eventually, he would finally be expelled from Rustboro City's prestigious Pokémon Academy and was forced to attend public school at Mauville City, where his unruliness seemingly magnified upon his exposure to the darker, seedier crowds. His musical obsessions would finally be recognized by those who appreciated his negative tastes, leading Jacob to pick up his first guitar at the age of fifteen.
His personal insecurities would later warp themselves into a stage persona that Jacob would come to adopt as part of his life: a white-haired, blue-eyed demon with a penchant for violence, shock imagery, and challenging the status quo whenever it was convenient to him, disregarding all those who would call his lifestyle as debauched, perverted, and disgusting. He dubbed this alter-ego "Malacoda", and eventually Jacob would go on to gather four more people to form the band known as "Malebranche"—a hellish, five-man group whose lyrics were often centered around deception, betrayal, corruption, and loss.
Upon turning eighteen, Jacob Slater ran away from home along with his band mates and began a regional tour that would instantly sweep them into popularity among the underground metal scene, gaining them a kind of fame that only the slimiest of punks and urchins could appreciate. His early exposure to fame led Jacob to experiment with drugs and alcohol to the point of excess, addictions he still battles with to this day.
Even then, he still yearns to see Meloetta one last time before he leaves this world.
