EXPERIENCE & BATTLES
A BATTLE HAPPENS WHEN TWO TRAINERS LOCK EYES!
To make things simple for a forum-based roleplaying format, experience points as they appear in the video games will not be used here on Global League, nor are the statistical values they influence. The only factors that are taken into consideration when gauging the strength a Pokémon wields are their levels, Abilities, and their list of known moves.
Acquiring levels is a simple affair here: when a Pokémon wins a battle against another Pokémon, they receive one level. Special perks are available to certain character classes that may improve the number of levels their Pokémon receives, as well as certain consumable items like Rare Candies. Alternatively, some items may alter the dynamics behind how levels are received, like the Exp. Share.
Pokémon growth on Global League is tied to the most recent generation of the main branch of Pokémon games (ORAS). As such, Pokémon will evolve and learn new moves at the same levels they would there. For further assistance on this matter, refer to our "Pokédex" link below.
Battles are handled on Global League in the traditional roleplaying format of "play-by-post"; it is no different than how a typical character interaction would transpire. Each character's Pokémon are allowed to execute one move per turn, however a bit more leeway will be provided in regards to status-altering moves and item usage.
Each party involved is expected to exercise fairness and common sense when battling: type advantages, status alterations, even a Pokémon's level plays a critical role in determining the final outcome of an encounter. Powerplaying, god-moding, bunnying, and other forms of cheating are grounds for a permanent ban from Global League.
