CHARACTER CLASSES
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING?
TRAINER
A Trainer is perhaps the first thing that pops into mind when one thinks of Pokémon, apart from the critters themselves. Though it has since become an umbrella term for anyone that simply cares for and handles Pokémon, a Trainer by its most traditional meaning are those who set out on a grand adventure to explore the world and conquer the Pokémon League Gym Challenge, all while collecting as many unique Pokémon as they possibly can.
One of the three standard character classes, Trainers are perhaps the most straightforward approach in the character creation process. As their skills predominately lie in competitive battling, they are able to bring out a Pokémon's latent potential quicker and more efficiently, meaning that they will gain two levels per battle instead of a single one. Furthermore, Trainers will also begin with two Trainer perks rather than just the one.
BREEDER
Breeders are those that have adopted a different outlook of the Pokémon world and now focus their efforts and skills toward raising and caring for Pokémon over choosing a life of glory that many other Trainers seek out. This does not, however, exclude them from participating in the Pokémon League Gym Challenge, as there have been many a Breeder who undertakes the quest solely for the invaluable experience it has to provide.
One of the three standard character classes, Breeders are far more utility-oriented than Trainers. Unlike any other class, Breeders are entitled to breed their Pokémon free of charge – so long as all established breeding policies are followed beforehand. Additionally, they are certified to open a Breeding Farm of their own and charge other players for their services, which may also include the selling of surplus Pokémon Eggs or a newly hatched Pokémon. If you're lucky, that is.
COORDINATOR
Choosing style over substance, Coordinators are the undisputed stars of Pokémon Contests. They are actors, musicians, performers, and entertainers who devote their lives to show business, working in perfect harmony with their Pokémon to bring whole crowds to their feet. The most skilled Coordinators are celebrities in their own right, becoming icons of artistic grace and splendor across the regions. They, like Breeders, are not forbidden from participating in the Pokémon League Gym Challenge.
One of the three standard character classes, Coordinators function somewhat differently compared to the other two. They are the only class to earn levels through Pokémon Contests, with each Pokémon in the Coordinator's party earning a single level for every Contest they win. Furthermore, Coordinators are the only class with the certifications necessary to act as Move Tutors and may offer their services teaching both TM moves, provided they possess the TM in question beforehand, and forgotten moves, for a price.
ORGANIZATION MEMBER
Numerous organized syndicates exist in the Pokémon world that feature unique sets of bonuses and privileges depending on which group one chooses to swear allegiance to. They general refer to criminal empires like the nefarious Team Rocket to eco-terrorist groups like Team Magma and Team Aqua, or even fanatical cults like Team Flare and Team Plasma who fight for a shared ideal rather than working towards material goals.
Whatever the intentions, characters must undergo a selection process in order to receive membership, usually in the form of a special Event sign-up; these will be released on a frequent basis, but slots for these registrations will be first come, first serve. No matter which particular organization a character joins, they will be given the privilege to forcibly enter, or "jump", any Event Thread they desire from that point on. Members of criminal causes may also attempt to steal another character's Pokemon, or those on the side of the law may attempt to arrest other players – within justifiable limits. Fully realized Organization Members will be given a free themed Pokémon generated by staff upon successful enlistment.
Organization Member is an advanced class, meaning that a character may devote themselves to the cause of a specific syndicate while also filling the role of a Trainer, Breeder, Coordinator, Gym Leader, Elite Four Member, or the Regional League Champion.
GYM LEADER
Gym Leaders are exceptionally powerful Trainers who are certified by the Pokémon League to issue Gym Challenges to all who would rise to the test, armed with the skills and the smarts to give any who challenge them a real run for their money. Only those who can prove their abilities are worthy to receive a Badge from the Gym Leader as a mark of their personal achievement. Those who succeed in winning all eight Badges of a specific region become fully qualified to challenge the Elite Four.
Gym Leaders are only given these positions through special Event Threads or direct staff intervention, but are granted access to a special perk upon placement, giving them the following bonuses:
LEADER'S GLORY - As a Gym Leader, this character is permitted eight, separate teams of Pokémon usable only in official Gym Challenges. Teams must be balanced in accordance to the number of Badges the challenger owns; the more they possess, the stronger the resulting team will be, and vice versa. These teams must also conform to the Gym's listed Type. Upon first acquisition of this perk, a newly enlisted Gym Leader will be given an additional Pokémon of their choosing at Level 10.
Gym Leaders are also authorized to enforce rules and regulations set by the Pokémon League with certain limitations, and are permitted to return to their Gym's base city without the moves Teleport or Fly.
ELITE FOUR
The Elite Four are a dramatic step up from the rank of Gym Leader, composed of four Trainers who have, at some point in their adventures, proved themselves indelibly to the Pokémon League. These individuals are the very definition of their name as "elite", boasting powerful Pokémon and battling skills that will truly push a Trainer to their utmost limit. Challenging the Elite Four of a particular region requires a character to have earned all eight Badges of that, specific region.
Elite Four are only given these positions through special Event Threads or direct staff intervention, but are granted access to a special perk upon placement, giving them the following bonuses:
REGAL ELITE - As a member of the Elite Four, this character is allowed a single team of five Pokémon up to Level 50, usable wherever and however they see fit. These teams must adhere to a singular Type which cannot be shared by other members of the Elite Four or any Gym Leaders of their region. The Elite Four have greater League authority than Gym Leaders and have limited degrees of influence in regards to the affairs of law enforcement and the Pokémon Rangers.Special Note: To be part of the Elite Four is to be recognized as a figure of immense prestige, worthy of respect and admiration. Members of this character class who are caught acting against the interests of the Pokémon League may lose their position and face prosecution.
The Elite Four are permitted instantaneous travel to the Victory Road of the region they govern over without the moves Teleport or Fly.
REGIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPION
The Regional League Champion is the single most powerful Trainer of a particular region. They rose up to take on the Gym Leader Challenge and won all eight Badges, then moved on to conquer the Elite Four with all their strength, skill, and spirit. For many Trainers, to become the very best is a shared goal – but there can be only one.
Upon defeating the Elite Four and reaching the Hall of Fame, you are given a choice: accept the title as the region's strongest Trainer and take up the responsibility of issuing the final challenge to those who will inevitably follow in their footsteps; or continue on with their adventure, forever immortalized in the Hall of Fame for having accomplished what no other has done before.
The illustrious title of League Champion can only be achieved by successfully defeating all eight Gym Leaders of a specific region and earning their Badges as marks of accomplishment, then moving on to defeat the region's Elite Four; only then will one earn the privilege to usurp the position from the current League Champion. If one manages to succeed in this daunting task, they will receive one of the following perks based on the decision they make.
Should they refuse the title of League Champion in favor of continuing their journey, they will receive this perk with the following bonuses:
TO BE THE VERY BEST - This character has conquered the entire Pokémon League Gym Challenge, vanquished the Elite Four, and defeated the Regional League Champion, but chose to continue their adventure to become even stronger. They are granted honorary membership into the Pokémon League for their accomplishments and are possessed of incredible renown and substantial political influence across all other regions.
Pokémon in the character's possession, including those that were newly captured or received, will obey their every command without question. Additionally, wild Pokémon are easier to capture, and any Pokémon in the character's party will receive an extra level upon winning a battle. This level reward stacks with the Trainer's class benefits, providing them with three additional levels, and all other classes two.
Should they accept the lofty responsibilities they are faced with, the newly appointed League Champion will officially receive the class title as well as this perk with the following bonuses:
CHAMPIONSHIP PRIDE - This character has conquered the entire Pokémon League Gym Challenge, vanquished the Elite Four, and defeated the former Regional League Champion, taking up the mantle to protect the region from impending danger and test the skills of Trainers that follow in their wake. As the League Champion, they are permitted a full team of Pokémon up to Level 80, usable wherever and however they see fit.
League Champions bear massive influence over the region under their watch and are more easily able to influence political and law enforcement matters. They are also the only class with the credentials required to propose new rules and regulations for the Pokémon League.
Like members of the Elite Four, the League Champion can instantly return to the Victory Road of their region without the moves Teleport or Fly.
