TRAVEL
WHERE DO YOU WISH TO GO?
Global League employs a traveling system that functions differently from those featured in many other Pokémon-based roleplaying forums. We operate using what we like to call "partial liquid-time", which means that one is only allowed a certain number of active threads at any given time. To elaborate further, members may only participate in one active normal thread, one active Wild Thread, and one Event Thread at any given point in time.
Global League also implements a semi-linear route system, meaning that players may choose to begin their adventures in any city or area, in any region on the map, but must then travel forward or backwards through the region from that point onward. In order to move on to the next zone, the player must complete the thread their character currently resides in.
The sole two exceptions to the semi-linear travel system can be found in the moves Teleport and Fly, the former allowing your character to return to the last zone they visited, and the latter granting them the freedom to return to any area they've previously visited.
You may have noticed that Global League's listed regions do not feature their established Route networks. By no means are they nonexistent; we've simply abridged the way traveling between zones works by associating certain Routes with certain cities or landmarks. For example, Kanto Route 1 is considered a part of Pallet Town, Kanto Route 2 cuts directly through Viridian Forest and is therefore integrated into said landmark, and so forth.
Click the link below for a complete location reference if you wish to exercise precision with this dynamic – you won't exactly receive substantial "punishment" if you choose to roleplay an adventure on Kanto Route 1 in Viridian City, per se, but do try to be as approximate as you can with these estimations.
Traveling around the Pokémon world is accomplished a number of ways: one can take a boat, ride a train, or even use their own Pokémon as a handy mode of transportation. But to move from region to region is a task that even the hardiest of Pokémon have extreme difficulties accomplishing on their own – which is why it is highly recommended that one purchase a Travel Ticket at any regional travel hub.
In the case of sea-based travel, any city located near a large body of water can be sailed to and from, as opposed to the small handful of locations that one finds in the main branch of Pokémon games. Places such as Fuschia City, Cianwood City, and Lilycove City, for example, now allow for a more diverse selection of destinations for seafarers and tourists alike due to their close proximity to the sea.
Travel Tickets usually run at an average price of 500 depending on the city's listed rates, but they are often given out as prizes during specific Events. A unique type of ticket called the Championship Ticket is provided only to those who have obtained all eight Badges of a specific region and went on to defeat the Elite Four. This special pass allows them entry into the Global League Championship and a free boat ride into a new region.
