BREEDING
INFORMATION + GUIDE
When examining the traditional definition, Pokémon Breeding refers to the process where a Trainer obtains a new Pokémon through the creation and subsequent hatching of an Egg, but over time, it has also become synonymous with generalized Pokémon grooming and care. In the case of the former, a Trainer will employ the services of a professional Breeder and leave two, compatible Pokémon with them with the express purpose of generating an Egg.
Pokémon Breeding on Global League functions using the same, common principles as they do in the main series of video games: only two Pokémon of opposite genders are capable of making an Egg, and only if both parents are either of the same species (e.g., two Pikachus) or share at least one Egg Group together (e.g., Skitty and Wailord).
Alternatively, Breeding may also take place if one of the parents is a Ditto, as these unique Pokémon may take advantage of their cellular malleability to accommodate their partner's. Genderless Pokémon are incapable of creating Eggs without the presence of a Ditto, and any Pokémon that are classified under the Undiscovered Egg Group cannot breed whatsoever. There are even special prerequisites that certain species of Pokémon must fulfill in order for specific types of Eggs to be created.
The process itself starts by filling out a request form for any Breeder of your choice, as well as the temporary forfeiture of the two Pokémon you wish to leave in their care. The chosen Pokémon will be wholly unavailable for the entire duration of two, separate character threads.
Once these criteria have been fulfilled, the player will have their Pokémon returned to them in addition to a brand new Egg. Upon acquisition of the Egg itself, a staff member will PM the recipient all of the specific details of the soon-to-be-newborn Pokémon, such as its gender, Nature, its inherited move pool, and whether or not it will be born as a Shiny Pokémon.
The Egg must then remain in the character's party for a total of five threads before it becomes capable of hatching, after which the newborn Pokémon will emerge from its shell upon the start of the sixth thread. Eggs cannot be deposited into a character's PC at any given point, and only a single Egg can be carried at a time.
In the core series of Pokémon games, the mother's role in the Breeding process played a critical factor in how the resulting offspring would turn out upon hatching, as newborn Pokémon will typically inherit the most favorable traits—such as desired statistical values, moves, Abilities, and Natures—from the mother. Here on Global League, the father have a much more significant role in the inheritance process.
As noted earlier, upon receiving an Egg from the Breeder, a staff member will PM the recipient all of the relevant details attached to the unhatched Pokémon regarding its gender, Nature, Ability, and its starting move pool.
To further streamline this process, as well as to give you a basic idea on how moves are passed down from parent to child here on Global League, listed below are the following guidelines to consider when selecting your Breeding candidates, appearing by order of priority:

MOVE INHERITANCE
In the core series of Pokémon games, the mother's role in the Breeding process played a critical factor in how the resulting offspring would turn out upon hatching, as newborn Pokémon will typically inherit the most favorable traits—such as desired statistical values, moves, Abilities, and Natures—from the mother. Here on Global League, the father have a much more significant role in the inheritance process.

To further streamline this process, as well as to give you a basic idea on how moves are passed down from parent to child here on Global League, listed below are the following guidelines to consider when selecting your Breeding candidates, appearing by order of priority:
- The offspring will always inherit the father's first known Egg Move, if it happens to know any.
- The offspring will always inherit the father's third known move.
- The offspring will always inherit all of the mother's known TM and/or HM moves they are compatible with, if it happens to know any. In the event the mother knows only TM/HM moves, then the father's third known move takes priority over the mother's.
- The offspring will always inherit any moves known by the father and/or mother if the move is one that it can learn by leveling up naturally.
- If the resulting offspring hatches with any empty move slots, it will inevitably hatch knowing one of its default moves to compensate for this.
