GENERAL RULES
A BASIC GUIDELINE TO GLOBAL LEAGUE.
Hello, and welcome to the world of Global League!
Before you move on to enlist your character into our forum's database, please take the opportunity to read over all of our rules and guidelines. Failure to adhere to this list in some way or another will result in an appropriate disciplinary action based on the severity of the offense in question.
1. Exercise respect for all members of Global League, including the staff. We're all here to roleplay and have a good time with one another, so there's really no need to engage in undue nastiness or foul behavior towards your peers. Collaboration requires cooperation, after all. That being said, behaving like a troll and spreading ill will (flaming, baiting, bashing, etc.) for the sake of a few, cheap laughs will not be tolerated here and will get you instantly banned. Consider yourself warned.
2. You are permitted access to as many characters as you like, but bear in mind that each one must be attached to its own separate site account. Additionally, the account's displayed username must be identical to the name of the character it is attached to (e.g., TAJIRI SATOSHI, JOHN SMITH, etc.).
3. In regards to possessing multiple characters, we require all members to display an amount of activity that's proportionate to the number of characters they own. If we feel that you are either slowing down, holding up any major events, or are simply creating characters for the sake of satiating a spontaneous creative impulse, we as staff will be required to address the issue.
4. All character faceclaims must be in animanga format — this means that the visual aesthetic of your image must look artistically like something from either an anime television series or a manga book series. In the event your desired faceclaim originates from a specific video game franchise, we as staff reserve the right to approve or deny the character's likeness on a case-by-case basis.
5. Global League's background story and plot operates using a splintered timeline separate to the core series of video games. While key characters may have existed at some point, the original protagonists have no relevance here, and their lasting influence on history never came to pass. Thus, playing as the main series protagonists is strictly forbidden. You are, however, permitted to use their likenesses as face-claims.
6. We require that all members follow a 150-word minimum when posting their threads to prevent undue clutter and promote creativity. Roleplaying should also be literate: chat-speak and any other varieties of Internet jargon are expressly forbidden. If you do not feel confident enough in your English-typing skills, don't let this turn you away: provided you are willing to learn and improve, never hesitate to ask another member for help, whether it is your first language or your tenth.
7. Cheating of any kind is not permissible here on Global League, and anyone caught in the act will be subject to having their roleplaying privileges here immediately revoked. To further clarify on what counts as a form of cheating:
9. To maximize your roleplaying experience here on Global League, please bear in mind that this is a collaborative writing experience, not a competition: we are all invested in furthering our characters' personal stories as much as we can be when it also comes down to battles and Pokémon Contests. Some members may be more centered towards combat, while others simply wish to write a story. Be respectful of everybody's tastes.
10. Spam of any kind will get you instantly banned. No exceptions.
11. If, at any point in time, you feel that another member has violated one of Global League's rules and guidelines, please contact a member of staff to have the issue addressed. You are not the police, and rule-sharking will not earn you any friends.
12. Needlessly bumping threads without a critical reason for doing so should generally be avoided. While it isn't a huge deal, it can be easily construed as annoying and inconsiderate; if your character application has not been accepted within three days of its original posting, you are permitted to bump your thread and thus restart the three-day wait period again. By extension, thread resurrection—also referred to as "necro-posting"—should be avoided as well.
13. Please do not ask or beg to be part of our staff team. If there are any spots open, we will either approach you personally if we feel you are qualified enough to handle the responsibility attached to the position, or we will hold auditions.
14. If a thread is not labeled with an "Open" tag, do not join another person's thread without first receiving permission from the thread's starter. Members of the Pokémon Global League or any criminal syndicate reserve the right to enter a thread whenever it is considered appropriate, but please try to exercise some common sense.
15. Any pending character bios that have yet to be finished must be prefaced with any derivative of the tag "WIP", shorthand for "work in progress". If left unfinished for more than seven days, we reserve the option to have it archived until you are more well adjusted enough to have it moved back.
16. Cross-classing is not permissible at this time, with the exception of those belonging to a named Criminal Syndicate. Trainers, Breeders, Coordinators, and all the other classes devote much of their time toward honing their skill in their chosen trade for their own benefit or to the general welfare of others, whereas organized criminals simply use their class talents to further the cause of their own syndicate.
17. Do not forget to take the thoughts and actions of your character's Pokémon into consideration when roleplaying — they're also characters in their own way! A truly dynamic battle takes the Trainer and the Pokémon's viewpoints into thought, completely tandem with one another.
18. In the event you are caught in a situation where someone in your thread inadvertently vanishes without prior warning — don't worry, it happens to all of us! — we strongly advise you to wait for a total of three days before allowing the next person in the thread's posting order full liberty to skip the absent player.
19. That being said, if you do anticipate a sudden drop in activity here, please leave us a message to let us all know what's up. Everyone has their ups and downs, and their ins and outs — but when it holds up progress, especially when an important event is involved, it puts a damper in the way our stories progress. So long as we all remember to communicate with one another and are willing to make compromises, we're more than happy to hold the fort down until your prospects get brighter.
20. As an extension of the above two rules, should a member of the Pokémon Global League or the leader of a named Criminal Syndicate wish to retire their position for any reason, they may elect a single character to inherit the former player's rank. In the case of League Trainers, their selected Type specialty does not have to mirror their predecessor's, but it cannot be a Type that is in use by another League Trainer. In the case of Elite Four members, a full team of six Pokémon is required to inherit this position.

7. Cheating of any kind is not permissible here on Global League, and anyone caught in the act will be subject to having their roleplaying privileges here immediately revoked. To further clarify on what counts as a form of cheating:
- Powergaming – Also referred to as "god-moding" or "superhero syndrome", this is any attempt to portray your character as being overwhelmingly more powerful than others, whether within the context of the roleplaying environment or not. This especially applies during the course of Event Threads.
- Metagaming – The act of possessing knowledge a character would not realistically be able to possess without validation; more specifically, the usage of out-of-character information in-character.
- Forced Consent – Also called "bunnying" or, more fittingly enough, "assuming direct control", engaging in forced consent is taking complete control of another character's creative properties without permission.
- Auto-hitting – The act of playing out an automatically successful attack against another player's character without permission. Against non-player controlled characters, this particular rule holds no credence to some degree, but common sense still applies.
- Multi-posting – Colloquially speaking, this refers to any attempt to break post order without permission. If there is an established posting order in a thread, do not go out of your way to break it. It's highly disrespectful.
8. Global League follows a PG-13 rating, not counting the fact that this specific rating is more for movies than anything related to video games. Anything short of needlessly excessive profanity is acceptable here, as well as mild drug and alcohol usage, mild sexual themes, and intense action and violence. Pornographic content of any kind is expressly forbidden here as described by Prooards' Terms of Agreement and is grounds for immediate banning.
